Parent-child Program, Autumn Edition

Picos de Europa and La Llamera
Dates 12 - 16 October 2026
Price more information will be shared soon

What happens when a parent and child step away from daily routines and embark on an adventure together?

Over five days, we walk from fire to fire, sleep under the stars on our finca and in huts in the mountains. We learn about the land and our place in it. About the wild life around us and how it mirrors us. About living in a small group, and finding our place in it. Via paths and rituals, we will renew the relation between child and parent and together create a lasting memory.

The days in a nutshell

  • Three days of high mountain trekking in the Picos de Europa

  • Learn about animal tracks and edible plants

  • Storytelling over a daily fire

  • Sensory engagement and bonding rituals

  • Sleeping out under the stars

Program

  • Day 1: Arrival at our finca. In the afternoon we settle into the land and create our own herbal first-aid kit for the week ahead. In the evening we gather around the fire, and spend the night in the tipi or your own tent.

  • Day 2: We travel into the Picos de Europa, and start our walk in one of Spain’s largest beech forests. This day is spent walking in the footsteps of bear and wolf. Our destination is the most romantic mountain hut in the Picos, Refugio Vegabaño. Along the way we learn to read tracks, landscapes, and animal pathways and what they can teach us about living in relationship with the land.

  • Day 3: We climb higher into the mountains, entering the realm of chamois and vultures. A day devoted to sensory awareness through practices such as barefoot walking and sit spots. At night we sleep in the hut, or if conditions allow, beneath the stars by a small campfire.

  • Day 4: A day of hunting and gathering, celebrating spring by sourcing ingredients for our evening meal. We reconnect with the land and later return to the finca. We cook together and spend our final night in the tipi.

  • Day 5: We conclude our journey at the sea, with a short walk and closing ritual on the dramatic cliffs of Cuevas del Mar.
